Fissure sealants are applied to permanent teeth to effectively protect them against decay for up to 10 years. It is a quick, simple and completely painless procedure where our dentists apply a special resin to the surface of the back teeth.

As a family we all have excellent treatment here. What stands out the most is how my son is treated. Everyone speaks to him directly, explains everything to him, shows him his x rays or equipment being used. He’s 8 and has had many terrible encounters with bad professionals through his cancer treatment and on going late effects. Everyone here is textbook excellent on how to minimise trauma and follow the children’s charter, subtle and not forced behaviour. This might not be a big deal to some children but to the ones that need it it’s everything. For us means a happy boy who enjoys seeing the Dentist.

Yes, dental X-rays are safe for children and are an important tool in diagnosing issues that may not be visible during a regular exam. The amount of radiation used in dental X-rays is very low. At our Bury St Edmunds practice, we use digital X-rays to provide the lowest possible exposure.
Dental sealants are a protective resin coating applied to the chewing surfaces of your child’s back teeth to prevent cavities. Sealants are particularly effective for children who are at a high risk of tooth decay (caries).
