Shaping your tooth
The tooth is shaped under local anaesthetic, this is followed by impressions or a 3D digital scan of your teeth, then your dentist will normally make and fit a provisional crown. This typically takes about 60 minutes. If you are having multiple crowns, it will take longer.
Your crown being made in the laboratory
Crowns are custom made in a dental laboratory by skilled dental technicians. The procedure usually requires two visits a few days apart.
Fitting your crown
The dentist removes the provisional crown, cleans the tooth and carefully cements your crown. This procedure typically takes a few minutes. Once the crown has been fitted, you can treat it like a normal tooth.
